Sunday 21st February 2010

I’m very lucky that although I live in the heart of London, I’m a stone’s throw away from a nature reserve; and a lovely one it is too. In the summer there’s a myriad of flora, fauna and wildlife. Naively I thought that I’d see some today but I just hadn’t realised how barren it would be and how we are still in the clutches of winter. I managed to see a small bunch of snowdrops and some berries but that was it. Everything else was brown or bare – and wet. But the latter helped me with today’s photo.

I had used the macro function to take some really pleasing images of the aforementioned berries and I was certain that I would be posting one of those today. But when I looked through the images I came across this one and just had to post it. This is where macro is a fantastic function; it’s really picked up the tiny pools of water in the leaf and the ripple of water in the right side pool was the clincher.
