I got the idea for this photo yesterday as I was walking past the stadium. Never before had I noticed how the floodlights stand; they remind me of wind turbines. The way they’re reflected in the rain also appealed so for 24 hours I was hoping that it would still be raining today. I’ve given it a sepia effect because I think the reflection is more vivid than in its normal colour.

I’m back on track today.

Today was a big day for some in my local area, although it does concern most of the local population. The A & E and maternity departments of our local hospital, The Whittington, are threatened with closure. People from many walks of life gathered today to march from Highbury to Archway, where the hospital is. Because it’s so close to the General Election we also had more high profile politicians there too, such as MP Frank Dobson. Dobbo is the bearded man holding the corner of black banner looking slightly ill at ease at being right at the front.

To sign the online petition to save the departments or find out more information on the proposed closure you can click here.

I totally forgot today! I’ve thought about doing this kind of photo before so thank God I was given a lift home! Thanks to my friend for posing for me. x

This is Archway Road early in the morning. This setting has already appeared on this blog (5th Jan) at around the same time of day but there is a big difference between them. I decided to take another photo of this again because of the way the iconic landmarks appear in silhouette. Archway is really a good place to ‘look down on London!’

I preferred the previous shot I had taken to this but it had started raining and a big raindrop had dropped onto the lens. I like how the rain reflects the light – but that’s about it, it was a rush job this one!

I’ve just discovered Windows Live Photo Gallery. I’m using it because fundamentally I’m lazy and it makes uploading photos onto Flickr much quicker and easier.

What I also like about it is it’s auto correct functionality, particularly how it straightens the images which is great for me because I’ve got a bit of a wonky hand! Its colourisation feature is also good and I really like the black and white options. I’ve gone for a kind of sepia tint with today’s image but it’s not an overstated sepia. I think the subtlety gives it a more authentic feel that’s appropriate for the stairs and style of buildings featured.

I bought this lovely bunch of flowers last week. Before they wilt and droop I had another chance to use the macro function. Also it was too dark to take the scenic photo I was planning for today!
